I was in Colorado when Cesar came to a large grower field to help us get better working conditions. There were many people on hunger strike. I was 11years old with my big brother. We camped in the field for three days and nights without eating. The strength I felt from the people around me, Cesar’s words of encouragement gave me hope and strength. It was a life changing moment.
Those few days helped me understand from a young age how important unity for a cause is. It takes time and endurance, but at the end there is victory in mind and spirit. The dignity for all has been won.
