In about 1988 I was living in Oakland, California when there was a great rally for justice with Cesar Chavez. After the march Cesar and one of his assistants came to our apartment and spent the afternoon with us. He was fasting that day. He had come to discuss two acres of land that the Northern California Land Trust wanted to donate to United Farmworkers. I was at that time president of the NCLT. Unfortunately when his people checked out the acreage in southern California it was not well located for an office or center. But I will never forget the wonderful afternoon that my family spent with Cesar Chavez.
