I have always seen Cesar Chavez as being very important to history. As important as Martin Luther King Jr, Malcom X, Angela Davis, or John F. Kennedy. While in college, I had an opportunity to meet Delores Huerta when she came to speak at our school. Her beauty and strength were absolutely amazing!
When I was in college, Cesar Chavez had come to speak. At that time there was a grape boycott, which was hard for me because I loved my grapes, but in solidarity with my friends in MEChA (I was president of the Black Student Union), I ate none. There was a scandal because the banquet featured a layout that had grapes on it. I remember the uproar amongst people of all races about this.
